Run power: Stryd vs Garmin (and switching)

Why Garmin run power inflates your numbers, and how to handle a switch to Stryd.

They are not the same number

Run power from a Garmin watch / HRM (or other optical/estimated source) typically reads ~30% higher than a Stryd foot pod for the same effort. That inflates everything derived from power: W/kg, Running Effectiveness, IF, Load, Critical Power and pVO₂max. An athlete on Garmin power can look superhuman next to a Stryd athlete, the watts simply aren't the same scale.

What Grepiac does

If an athlete uses Garmin run power permanently

Turn on "Dismiss Garmin running power" on the athlete's profile (coach edit). From then on Garmin run power is dropped on import so it never enters their metrics; analysis falls back to pace + HR.

If an athlete switched to Stryd

On their run analytics page (coach view) use "Dismiss run power before a date…": enter the switch date and the old Garmin-era run power is cleared and the run metrics re-estimated, so only the Stryd era counts.
